Meet AC Announces President and CEO Leaving Organization

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Wednesday, October 2, 2019) Jim Wood, president and CEO of Meet AC, has announced he will depart from the organization at the end of 2019. Wood will be returning to Kentucky so that he can care for his wife while she rehabilitates from a severe fall she suffered earlier in the year.

Wood became the first CEO for Meet AC in 2014 when the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) hired a consulting group to form the new sales and marketing organization, which became Meet AC. Meet AC’s primary focus is growing the meetings and convention market for Atlantic City.

In 2015, Wood formed the Atlantic City Sports Commission as a department within Meet AC. Meet AC was successful in attracting the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) 2016 World Education Congress (WEC), the 2016 TEAMS Conference & Expo as well as other prominent industry shows that helped Atlantic City position itself as a meeting and convention destination. The TEAMS Conference & Expo is set to return to Atlantic City in 2021.

“Jim has been a driving force in continuing to position Atlantic City as a top destination for the meetings and conventions market,” said CRDA Executive Director and Meet AC Board Chairman, Matt Doherty.  “We wish Jim and his family the best in the future.”

During Wood’s tenure, Meet AC has seen year-over-year growth in the meetings and conventions industry; booking over 1.8 million room nights, which has brought in nearly $1.9 billion in economic impact into Atlantic City. Meet AC continued to exceed its organizational goals in spite of the struggling gaming economy that saw multiple casino closures.

“It has been my pleasure to lead a great staff,” said Wood. “The organization is in great shape for the future.”

About the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority
The only agency of its kind nationwide, the CRDA has used Atlantic City casino reinvestments as a catalyst for meaningful, positive improvement in the lives of New Jersey residents since 1984. Under the 2011 Tourism District Act, the Authority's mission evolved from statewide projects to becoming the state's key economic development agency for Atlantic City. CRDA's expanded responsibilities now include land use regulation, tourism marketing and clean and safe initiatives. The CRDA also oversees Historic Boardwalk Hall (the leading entertainment venue of its size in the country) and the Atlantic City Convention Center. In total, CRDA has invested nearly $2 billion in more than 400 projects statewide, of which $1.8 billion has been invested in Atlantic City, spurring business investments and expansions, and creating permanent jobs in the process.
